NOS systems stand for  Nitrous Oxide Injections systems. NOS is an acronym for the company Nitrous Oxide Systems. They are the largest marketer of nitrous oxide injection systems or NOS for automotive use.

 

  •   Nitrous Oxide's chemical designator is N2O, this means its molecule has 2 nitrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. This is important because one of the major ways to increase  horse power in your engine is to add more oxygen and additional fuel. The air we breathe contains 21% oxygen while nitrous oxide molecule contains 33%. When NOS combines with gasoline  carbon dioxide and water vapor are created. This in turn expands and exerts pressure on the pistons. So a NOS systems installation will give you a burst of power.

  • There is a 2nd and even greater way that a NOS systems can improve your performance. This is because cold air is denser than warmer air and it can carry more oxygen. NOS systems when vaporization provides a major cooling effect on the incoming air for your engine. The result is instant power with a NOS systems.

 

  •   NOS systems that you will typically find install in a car contain a bottle of Nitrous Oxide that has been compressed into a liquid, along with  various components that allow this to be fed to the engine. You would then press a button and get an immediate injection of NOS.

Caution, you do not want this much increase in horse power.  Not if you want to keep your engine very long.
