Which NOS System for you Accord

There are many different types of Nitrous Oxide systems. The two main types for your typical installation are called dry and wet.

A NOS system starts with the nitrous as a fluid. The dry NOS system has the needed extra fuel which is delivered through the fuel injectors. This will keep the manifold dry of fuel, therefore the term dry. This amount of fuel delivered can be increased in one of two ways in a dry NOS system.

  • One way is by increasing the pressures in the fuel injection system. The other way is to modify the vehicle's computer and increase the time that the fuel injectors remain open. When the NOS system sprays nitrous past the mass airflow sensor, the mass airflow sensor will send a signal to the computer that it sees colder denser air. When this happens the computer system will then send additional fuel into the engine. This means that with the extra oxygen you are receiving from the NOS system and now the extra fuel  you will get more horsepower.

  •   The second type of NOS system is called a wet system. This NOS system approach has four different sub systems. The first sub system is called a "wet single point". The wet "single point" system mixes the fuel and nitrous together, which causes the upper intake to get wet with fuel.

  •   The newer wet systems are some of the simplest and easiest to install. In these systems fuel is pulled via something called a Schrader valve which is found on the fuel rail. The Schrader valve is typically used as a fuel test port. By using this Schrader valve and the exiting plumbing and using a wet NOS kit the NOS system installation is simplified.

  •   The next NOS system approach is called the "wet direct port" system. This system introduces both nitrous and fuel directly into each individual intake port. This NOS system has multiple nozzles going to each cylinder. This not the most typical installation as it is the most complex and expensive installation, as it requires major modifications to the engine.

  •   The next NOS system is called a "plenum bar" system. The "plenum bar" system consists of spraybars which are installed inside of the plenum of the intake manifold. You will find it is typically used in multi-stage systems.

  •   The last one is a "propane" or sometimes a "CNG" system. This system combines nitrous with some type of gaseous fuel such as propane or sometimes compressed natural gas. This causes a rise in the octane level of the combined mixture and reduces the risk of knocking.
